Description of the work
In “Full Moon at Dusk,” Jen Weissenbacher continues her exploration of the moon—this time in a particularly colorful production.
The lunar surface is modeled in rich detail and texture, worked with fine texture paste and infused with color in translucent layers. Craters, rays of light, and tectonic traces are not only made visible here, but poetically transformed. The surface shimmers between iridescent nuances – violet, rose, cobalt, yellow-green – that appear like reflections in a cosmic prism.
The background: a deep, velvety blue with magenta accents – between day and night. Not the black of space, but a breathing space of color – like the last breath of twilight before darkness sets in. The full moon doesn't simply shine, it pulsates.
The title, "Full Moon at Dusk," refers to a transitional state: the moment when light and shadow meet, vision and memory overlap. In this limbo, the moon becomes a mirror of inner rhythms – a projection surface for time, longing, and change.
Weissenbacher combines scientific precision with subjective color. The work oscillates between lifelike observation and an almost trance-like rush of color. It makes it clear: the moon is not just an astronomical body, but a resonant space – for what within us seeks order, beauty, and meaning.
