Description of the work

"Functioning" brings together two seemingly incompatible worlds: flowing jellyfish, luminous and floating freely in space – and cold, rigid gears that mesh tightly. Both systems appear organic, rhythmic, and precise – yet they represent different principles: life versus machine, intuition versus control.

At the center is the moment of transition, where the tentacles appear almost like mechanical impulses, the bubbles like thought processes, and where the biological and the technological interpenetrate each other. In this field of tension, a space emerges: poetic, surreal, unsettling.

The work poses questions: What does it mean to function – as a human being, as a society, as part of a system? Where does the living begin and the mechanical end? And is one even conceivable without the other?
